How our scoring works.
GymVerity turns verified specifications and practical buying factors into category-specific scores, while keeping the underlying evidence visible so the number never has to stand on its own.

The Verity Score is designed to make product trade-offs easier to understand. We compare products within the same category, score the factors that matter for that category, and keep raw specifications alongside the result wherever possible.
Score category-relevant factors
A treadmill is not judged like an adjustable dumbbell or a protein powder. The dimensions and weighting are chosen for the product category being compared.
Show the trade-offs
The overall score is paired with dimension scores, tables and radar charts so you can see why two products with similar totals may suit very different buyers.

What goes into the treadmill score?
For treadmills, the current framework uses six dimensions. Each dimension is based on relevant underlying specifications and buying considerations rather than a single headline feature.
PerformanceRunning capability, speed, incline and the hardware that supports training performance.
Durability & supportBuild, user capacity, warranty and other evidence relevant to long-term ownership.
Features & technologyConsole, connectivity, programmes and useful training features.
Comfort & usabilityRunning area, cushioning, controls and day-to-day ease of use.
Space efficiencyFootprint, folding or storage behaviour and how practical the machine is in a home setting.
ValueWhat the product delivers relative to its price and the alternatives in its category.
DATA CONFIDENCE
A separate measure of how complete the evidence is.
Data Confidence is not another performance score. It tells you how much reliable information we had available when building the comparison. A product can score well while carrying lower confidence if some important specifications are missing or less clearly documented.
Score ≠ confidence
The Verity Score answers: “How does this product compare?” Data Confidence answers: “How complete and defensible is the information behind that comparison?”
Affiliate commission is excluded from GymVerity scoring. Commercial links do not add points to a product or change its category scores.
