Mirafit M150 vs BowFlex 5.1S: Choosing an Adjustable Bench for a Home Gym
An adjustable bench looks simple compared with a treadmill or exercise bike, but small differences in geometry, load rating and storage can have an outsized effect in a home gym. The Mirafit M150 and BowFlex 5.1S both cover multiple training angles while taking noticeably different approaches to storage.

Adjustment range
Mirafit specifies six backrest angles and four seat angles for the M150. BowFlex lists six backrest positions for the 5.1S: -20°, flat, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°, along with an adjustable seat.
Load capacity
The M150 has a tested total capacity of 260 kg. BowFlex/Johnson Fitness publishes a 272 kg maximum load capacity for the 5.1S. Remember that a bench load rating normally needs to account for both the user and the external weight being handled.
Moving and storing the bench
The M150 uses a built-in handle and castors to make repositioning easier. The BowFlex 5.1S also includes transport wheels, but its distinctive feature is a vertical stowable design. That can be useful in a room where the training area needs to be reclaimed after a session.
Construction details
Mirafit publishes 7 × 5 cm steel frame tubing and 6 cm anti-slip padded cushions for the M150. The 5.1S uses a steel frame and padded surfaces, with its design placing more emphasis on its stowable mechanism.
GymVerity scores
The BowFlex 5.1S currently scores 87.1/100 with 94% Data Confidence. The Mirafit M150 scores 83.9/100 with 98% Data Confidence. These scores combine multiple dimensions; they are not a claim that one bench is the right choice for every home gym.
